Confocal

Multi-Photon Confocal

Purpose:

  • Collect optical sections from fluorescent samples with higher z resolution less likelihood of photo damage to live tissue, and greater penetration into sample. (up to 200 microns depending on sample)
  • Optical sections can be used for 3-D reconstruction or for in focus infrormation at several optical depths.
  • Collect optical sections with water immersion lenses from petri dishes, culture plates, etc.
  • Can also be used as a single photon confocal.
  • Environmental chamber, micromanipulator and microinjection unit on microscope.
  • Samples can be heated and flow-through systems available.
  • DIC/Phase and fluorescence can be collected at the same time.
  • UV dyes on samples can be used (INDO dyes for example) and calcium flux can be followed.
  • Instrument set-up for time series (4-D series).
  • Photo flashing/bleaching also available with existing tsunami laser.
